1. RESOURCES
- Resource - Anything that can be used to satisfy a need
- Utility - Utility or Usability is what makes an object or substance a resource. Utility gives value
- Value means worth. Some has economic value, some may not
- Patent - It means the exclusive right over any idea or invention
- Time and technology - Factors which change the substance into resources
- Technology - It is the application of latest knowledge and skill in doing or making things
- Natural resources - Resources from nature and used without much modification
- Renewable resources - which get renewed or replenished quickly. Eg: Solar and Wind energy
- Non renewable resources - limited stock; once exhausted, it may take 1000 of years to be renewed. Eg: Coal, Petroleum and Natural gas
- Distribution of resources in the world is unequal
- Human made resources - Eg: Iron ore is not a resource until people learnt to extract from iron
- Human resources - refers to the number (quantity) and abilities (mental and physical) of the people
- people are human resources
- Human resource development - Improving the quality of people's skills so that they are able to create more resources
- Resource conservation - Using resources carefully and giving them time to get renewed
- Sustainable development - Balancing the need to use resources and also conserve them for the future
